One Piece at a Time
Join us at the Louisiana Old Governor's Mansion on Sunday, October 4th from 12-4 pm for One Piece at a Time, a Halloween scavenger hunt for the whole family! Costumes are encouraged, but come as you are if you'd rather skip the disguise.
Explore the Mansion's history while you search for clues alongside our community partners, including the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, Visit Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge Alliance for Students, New Schools for Baton Rouge, the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge, and more. Each clue you solve earns you a puzzle piece. Collect them all to assemble a picture of a beloved artifact at the Mansion.
While you're here, stop by the Rose Garden and craft your own pumpkin creation for the season.
Admission is free, and there's something for everyone: history, a scavenger hunt, and a little Halloween fun. Bring the family and join us for the afternoon!
Jay Dardenne Lecture Series
Bayou Bijou: Movies Made in Louisiana
Jay Dardenne's presentation, "Bayou Bijou: Movies Made in Louisiana," takes a look at fifty movies filmed in Louisiana, some dating back more than a century and some made possible by tax credits available for the past three decades. Join the Old Governor's Mansion for this look at the state's film history.
Dardenne is a dedicated public servant whose extensive career includes serving as Louisiana's Commissioner of Administration, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, State Senator, and Baton Rouge Metro Councilman.

Quartetto Obrigado
Join the Old Governor's Mansion on Sunday, November 1st at 4:00 pm for an afternoon of saxophone quartet music featuring Quartetto Obrigado. Formed in 2013 and based right here in Louisiana, the quartet - Dr. Griffin Campbell, Dr. Taylor Assad, Jennifer C. Foret, and Brina Bourliea Faciane, brings a wealth of international performance experience and a deep commitment to contemporary music to this special program. Their repertoire will feature works by Eugene Bozza, Alfred Desenclos, Paul Hayden, F. and M. Jeanjean, and Jean Françaix, showcasing the rich color and versatility of the saxophone quartet tradition. Admission is free, parking is free, and since this falls on our regular Free First Sunday, attendees are encouraged to arrive early to tour the Mansion from 12-4 pm before staying for the performance at 4 pm. A reception will follow the concert, so bring your family and friends for an afternoon of exploration, music, and community. We can't wait to see you there!
Preserve your Past
Join the Old Governor's Mansion and our sister agency, Louisiana State Archives for Preserve Your Past, an hour long event on November 18, 2026, at 5:30 PM. This session will bring together experts from both organizations to explore the world of genealogy research and historical preservation. Presenters Joseph Ricci (OGM Curator), Tanya Anderson (Conservation Services Supervisor), and Anna Schittone (Reference Services Supervisor) will share insights on tracing family history through vital records, local history collections, and online genealogy resources, as well as practical guidance on caring for and preserving cherished family documents, photographs, and heirlooms at home. Attendees will also get an inside look at professional conservation techniques through live demonstrations, along with recommendations for trusted vendors and conservation professionals. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or just beginning to explore your family's past, this event offers valuable tools and knowledge for preserving history for generations to come.
